1/25/2011 UPDATE We now have photos of members of our family that served in Civil War on the Confederate and Union sides! Also War of 1812, Indian wars, World War I and II.

Link to 1837 last will and testament of Joyce "Joicy" Powell's naming David R. Strother and his brothers as her grandsons. Copies of original are also in SC State Archive, the Latter Day Saints Family History Center and the Tompkins Library in Edgefield, SC  Will of Joicy Culpeper 1837.

I found a will where David R. Strother is listed as one of the grandson's of Joicy Culpepper. Click on this link to see the will leaving land and 2 "Negros", Morris and a boy Warren to David Richardson Strother. There is also 700 acres of land to be split with his two brothers, William A. Strother and George James Strother, who also received slaves. The will also leaves people and money to a DeVore who is her granddaughter and a Sheppard, another grandchild.  Click on the link above to go to the image of the will in the SC state archives.

It is the Dec. 2011 updated list for all of the 15 children of Milton J. Strother Sr. (Serena's father, she was and still is also known as Doll)
This list is not totally complete, I do not have all of his grandchildren's names and but I do have some great-grands, I have omitted them here so as not to offend anyone.

Milton J. Strother was married first to Martha Pixley, who had 11 children prior to her death in 1929. Many of the children were born prior to 1900!

After Martha’s death, Milton married Mary Eva McDaniel-Strother. My grandmother and had four more children with Milton .
